SS early side cap skull button ?

hi, i just bought this from an antique shop in beverley uk and just need to know your opinion if this is real or not, the front looks like silver to me and seems to be allot higher quality stamping than any i have seen, the back is a brass colour with like a flower pattern indentation from the centre of the loop hole for about 6mm diameter.

the back has no markings on at all

i don't know 100% if its off a side cap but its the only item of clothing that seems to use one.

Forgive me for asking, but why would you buy something which you admit to not knowing much about? In the area of SS collecting, that can be an expensive way to learn.

I hope you didn't pay much or can get a refund.

i was in there quite a while looking at various things, there were some panzer skull collar badges i was going to buy but when i asked to look at them closer ( everything is locked away in glass cabinets) i found 3 0f the 4 tabs broken off and the skull button just caught my eye, i paid ******163;30 for it, but if its a fake i will go back and demand a refund or report the shop owner as using false statemants on the items he is selling (everything is labelled up original or repro)

Yes, I would agree that it's fake. The skull is quite different to those found on originals.
