    Metal insigna "800"

Before selling these metal insigna on E-STAND I would like to know the opinion of the experts and the price.
The eagle is marked 1/17 on the back and the skull 1/52 and both are marked "800" on the edge.
The skull has the left pin broken and the eagle the left pin repaired(?).
    Thanks.

This should prove an interesting debate. Did 800 marked insignia ever really exist? The jury is still out on this one unless someone can now prove it either way. IMO I think the chances are pretty slim. Whenever I've seen these 800's on a so called original cap, the cap itself has always been highly questionable as well.

Interesting indeed,I've always thought of these as IIIrd Reich Depot specials.

            Cheers,Ian.

That stuff is junk - plain and simple.
You can quote anybody you want but that won't make this insignia anything but what it is - modern made reproduction.

                      800 marked

I have a WSS General's visor that came directly from vet's daughter that has 800 marked skull, eagle is not marked- I am sure there was some variation on insignia due to personal preference

Then again, there are always opinions! Educate yourself and make up your own mind!

Jerry, you got the wrong end of the stick mate...

I'm not trying to defend the ones posted above, I quoted Bob and Chris because of their opinion that SOME 800 marked pieces are genuine. I think that deserves some discussion doesn't it or you do believe they are talking crap?

These insignia are repro junk. I have never seen any silver insignia which I believed to be original, and certainly not these.

This set and this topic received a good discussion here:

It is worth the time to read it before we simply cover the same ground.

I wish someone who knew metals would at least test these to see if there is any freakin' silver in them!
