Hello,

Yes this is a good cap eagle. As a police collector I might point out that all police branches, including the fire department and city police also used this insignia. The black background was not specific to police field divisions, and had nothing to do with the SS per se.

Hi and thanks for answer.

But could this Polizei eagle been used by the SS Polizei ?
I belived blue backing was for the Feuerpolizei and green backing was for the Schützpolizei and black backing for the SS Polizei.

Bill is quite right that this insigna has nothing to do with the SS. This particular black backed Polizei eagle was the standard soft cap eagle used on the sidecap and Einheitsm******252;tze. There was not a green backed version of this particular eagle, although there are fake ones with a brown backing that never existed during the period of use.
