Greatcoat info please

I am seeking your help IDing this SS greatcoat. What model is it, and when was it fielded? I assume it is W-SS, am I right?

Images of the liner would be helpful. I can't tell if this is EM issue or Officers private purchase from the photos.

Chris, it's an issue piece. I don't have pics of the lining handy, if necessary I will shoot some. Inside is a maker stamp and the size info. There still is a paper tag saying SS Mantel and giving size info. No date though...

It would really be helpfull if you could post a pic of the tag and size markings, as it is now just looks like a nice Wehrmacht issued M40 mantel.

Hi could it be a second pattern field-gray overcoat? But better pictures would be a great help

Here is a picture of the only overcoat I have, but that is the surcoat.

Could you kindly explain to me, I am no SS buff, how size markings would be helpfull in answering my question?

But anyway, here it is. Please take a look as I will remove the picture tomorrow latest because I do not want to lend the fakers a helping hand...

Albert I believe Norman's question regarding the size markings is an attempt to see if there is anything about the stamping to indicate that this is an SS and not a Wehrmacht coat. Does your coat have signs that a sleeve eagle was once applied?

No, there are no markings such as SS BW on the coat itself. And yes, there was a sleeve eagle, and the thread still is there. This piece came straight from the family so there is absolutely no doubt about it.

From the feedback so far I reckon there is no SS designation for this type; kind of like an Army M36 tunic just used by the SS. Is that correct?

Very nice great coat you have Albert. Looks totaly similar in the cut like my SS great coat in my collection. Nice tag ...
I wouldn't need a stamp in it to love this one, you know what I mean.

Albert you are correct that there is no external difference or different designation to differentiate between Heer and SS M40 overcoats as far as I know. Very nice coat by the way, a beautiful find.
