I might have posted pics of this before, but I just found this old thread and wondered if anyone had any info.
Can anyone tell me how these candelabra were used, or have photos of them in use? People seem to be familiar with them, but I haven't found anyone who has a clue about them other than "yup - they exist!" The Julleuchter is very well documented, but not these. Perhaps these were locally made by individual units for their own ceremonial functions, without any specific guidelines from the SS?
Here is the one I own, BTW. Any input (good or bad) would be appreciated. Like I said, I know next to nothing about it, though it was allegedly vet acquired along with my Julleuchter.

SS candelabra
Mr. Scratch, I remember nothing about SS candelabras at the moment, but it is interesting that this piece was associated with a Julleuchter(pagan Yule candlestick). As you probably are aware, the Julleuchter has two prominant symbols, one being the "valentine" heart symbol, which your candelabra also has. The heart symbol and the Julleuchter both came to the attention of Himmler from the (nowadays discredited )professor Herman Wirth who believed such symbols were ancient relics from the Ur-Aryans (original/ancient Aryans) who came to Europe from Atlantis. For awhile in the early 30's Wirth had the favor of Himmler and was given the leadership of the SS Ahnenerbe history research unit. After Wirth lost favor through profligate spending he was kicked out by Himmler--but Himmler kept the Julleuchter with it's heart shaped symbol until the end.
Hope this helps some,

SS candelabra
Hello Mr. Scratch this may be of help. On p. 225 of Hayes"SS UNIFORMS..." there is a photo of an SS candle in metal with 4 candle holders. all it says is: SS ceremonial candle holder. After re-reading my primary document Ulric translation of Fritz Weitzel's "SS FAMILIE'' or really "DIE GESTALTUNG DER FESTE IM JAHRES....." I find that it states" it is customary(for the SS man) to light 4 candles on the first Sunday(Advent Sunday in December), decreasing every week by 1 candle. This should point to the dying old year, which is reborn in the many candles on the Weihnacht(Xmas) tree even as it's last candle dies away.'' In a possible relation to these lighting of candles it later states that "every Jul-sunday it is customary to tell one story to the children about the coming year and solstice: 1st sunday:little red riding hood. 2 sunday snowhite 3 sunday: maiden marleen 4th sunday sleeping beauty. "
Now while there is no mention of any special 4 piece candle holder for the SS within this book, I find the 4 sundays candle lighting to allude to the need of one. I surmise that just like there were private purchase SS rings for SS men who did not get given a true TK ring, there could easily have been private purchase SS candelabra for those who did not yet recieve a official Julleuchter, and as the book states, even those with a Julleuchter still could use a handy 4 piece candelabra. Also, of course, the Julleuchter is used at the end of the Oldyear and the beginning of the new year, so it is very concievable for these two items used ,at so similar a time of year, by followers of SS rituals that they would be stored together--and thus supposedly staying together, eventually getting to you , Mr. Scratch, still together. Of course, this all does not definitivly prove your candelabra is really a ritual SS Heidnisch(pagan) item. But it sure is interesting speculation.
I would enjoy hearing other's opinions and knowledge on this, but I fear most SS collectors dont much care for the pagan history of the SS

Michael,
Thank you for the excellent information. I've ordered a copy of "The SS Family" for myself, just to see what else I'm missing.
The Two candle holders (the Julleuchter and candelabra) allegedly came from the family of one SS Hstfhr. Eugen Englmaier of the Volksdeutsche Mittelstelle. Interesting to see there might be some substance to the source.Last edited by Mr. Scratch; 08-13-2007, 06:05 PM.
