It's not the same as the one in the link notice there is a point on the back of the head. That doesn't make it correct, but it is different to a degree.
I will wait for a few more opinions before I sell this. I got it from an experiance collector in the early 80"s. He got most of his stuff from vets, but I am sure an odd fake found it's way,
Dave
I have not seen an eagle like this before or maybe I have and forgotten, nothing jumps out saying fake, maybe others have input to add, Dave can you scan it at a high resolution so you can see the black weave around the eagle?
cheers
Gary
A polite question/observation :- Looking at the way the stitching is on the base material rather than the top stitched and then bent down, the backing folded back underneath and then stitching round onto the welt as per normal.
I'm not saying these eagles are bad ,'cos I don't know, but there does seem to be an anomoly here.
When i said strange in my above posting I do not mean i am saying it is a fake, I have just never handled one of these myself ,I also have found a picture of another one of the same type or is it your eagle Dave?, I also think the one pictured in cloth insignia of the ss far right top of page 442 is the same example as the ones listed here
cheers

Here is one original one, I hold my self back to say the above ones are not original but I don't know this style.
Check out the lower wings how the tips are shaped in the upper directions.
