    Interesting SS zeltbahn

I have posted this on the equipment forum, but thought someone here might have some insight as well.

Does anyone have any comments on this zelt? I don't think that this combination of camo patterns is very common... or is it?

Here are a couple of more photos that I hope may generate some interest... I am beginning to wonder why there has been so little feedback on this thing

          HI,
The "combination" of this pattern of camouflage is very common on SS zelts, often the reinforce at the border of the zelt is in this pattern of plan tree camouflage and this type of plan tree reinforce is printed only on the Autumn side, used only for this garnish, normally founded on early mid-war SS zelts, but sometime on later zelts, like your zelt.
The pattern of camouflage is a variant of the Oakleaf A, it is a very common zelt, the value around the $500, IMO.

Okay, so the trim is a variation of plane tree and not polyspot. Obviously I haven't handled many of these as none of the other zelts that I have seen had this "plane tree" trim... but if you say that it's common I guess I just haven't seen the right ones. Thanks for your response.

It is common, not so much on oak or blurred edge zeltbahnen but on platanen zeltbahnen. The spots are very large so my guess is that this pattern originates from the prewar years. I have not been able to find these large spot prints in a wartime platane pattern, it might also be that this is a scrap from the production of some items. The real origin is unknown to me but it doesn't look like polyspot and it can't be that since polyspot is a wartime pattern that was introduced in 1941 and this style of platane print (like on your zeltbahn) can be found on prewar-early war zeltbahnen as well....You will be able to find many types of prints on some sections of zeltbahnen like the window flap...This can be poly spot, lateral, block, oak, blurred edge and the 1-6 platan prints.....

              Cheers

              Fritz
