    W-SS or Police Uniform?

From one of my photo albums...it contains several hundred photos related to the man's police service, plus one (and only one) photo in which he is wearing a uniform that exhibits both W-SS and Police characteristics. Any thoughts...is the one photo an example of W-SS or Police (the one in question is in post number 3)?

...and after enlarging and sharpening, I believe I can make out the barely descernable swastika of a Police belt buckle...

There's one other photo of the man wearing an M43, but it appears to have the Police style 'bullseye' insignia instead of the SS eagle, and he's wearing collar litzen...

I am thinking that the man with police boards and ss cap is in the SD at the time...Billbert

Not SD but a Police Regiment outfit. A mixture of W-SS and Police insignia worn by the SS-Polizei Rgt.

Yes, I agree with SCHUPO... the 4. SS-Polizei-Panzergrenadier-Division went through a transistion period from Police insignia to SS insignia. The first piece of insignia used by these folks was the SS sleeve eagle. They removed the cockade from their caps but left the police insignia. Then they adopted the SS style of shoulder boards and straps, then the collar tabs and the skulls on their caps. Here is a photo of such a piece: an SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer of Police Rifle Regiments lightweight tunic. As you can see it still retains the police collar tabs but all other insignia is SS.

And here is an example of another SS-POLIZEI-DIVISION officer tunic with ALL SS insignia. This once belonged to the late Mike Beaver and I missed the opportunity to buy it from him.
