SS Sidecap, opinions welcome

Hi all,

I was offered that sidecap, but i have some concerns about the insignia as well as the makers mark. Isnt it also strange that the insignia is stitched through the cloth ?

I have always problems when it comes to SS Stuff so any info would be more than nice.
