Looks like a nice original M1/24 Overhoff eagle. I believe they are quite rare. I was unaware until recently that these eagles even existed (a fact that I learned to my embarrassment after first condemning an original one as a fake on another thread). I believe Chris expressed that he is very interested in finding one like it.

Yes, it is a nice original. There is an out-of-print book, (I can't remember the author(s), but I think the title was "Headgear of Hitler's Germany vol.2" that was printed several years ago, (around 10-15 years ago,
but I can't remember the exact date), but on the cover of this book, there was a Waffen-SS visor and on the visor was this exact eagle,
(easily recognizable by it's many unique characteristics).
Anyway, this eagle you posted makes three that have been posted here this month. Strangely before this month, I had never seen one of these eagles, other than the one on the cover of that book.
I have seen fewer of the aluminum "SS M1/167" marked eagles than this one, (only seen one of those).
Still, this is certainly one of the rarer variations.

The grey SS cap in question on the cover of the Saris &c. book was, at the time, from the collection of Harper Noehren, actually. This badge here is an attractive piece of authentic regalia at hand. Congratulations to its owner. As to the post above apropos Overhoff & Cie, one does ill to imagine that we really know very much about all this stuff. I am sure that the badges on SS caps had something to do with the peculiarities of the RZM as well as geographical location of the badge makers and the cap makers, more than likely, but who really knows....?? We know far less than we think, and the chaos of it makes us desperate for a certainty that is wholly beyond our grasp. Much of Noehren's material is illustrated in various works.Comment
