SD mailing disc seal?

Hi

I have had this item a number of years without ever really knowing what it is, other than it is SD. I am not even sure this is the right part of the forum to post it.

I have spoken to a few people and have come to the conclusion that it is a mailing bag seal.

The word at the bottom reads - Absendestelle.

I doubt it is a reproduction as I have simply never seen one before, even after a good look around on the net.

I thought someone may be interested and be able to shed some more light on what it is and what it was used for.

Actually it's from the RSHA, the Reich Main Security Office, which was comprised of the SD, Gestapo and other organizations.
