waffen-ss sidecap opinions needed

Sorry but this isn't an original WSS sidecap. Do a search on this forum to see what one really looks like.

Well, the cap's shape, construction and material are wrong for a WSS sidecap. The eagle is also wrong and at first I dismissed it as a fake but after looking at it again, it could be a genuine SS-VT cap eagle but I don't really like the backing material.
Where did you find the cap?

hello benvk,this cap is found in arnhem,and is in a family for over 60 years,this family lives in arnhem,thats his story,so i he is telling the truth,this cap belong to the 2 ss or hohenstaufen

but the cap its self is not a regular wss sidecap,like you said,wich nations cap it could be i dont know,cheers

It is definately NOT a Waffen-SS overseas cap. It does resemble an early SS-VT cap but it's not quite right for that either. By the time the 9th and 10th SS-Panzer-Divisions were put together, the SS-VT materials would have been long gone and no longer issued. Here is an example of two Waffen-SS overseas caps, one with artillery red soutache and dated 1940:

This cap looks to be artificially aged to me. I think the eagle is not an original embroidered vt eagle but a copy.
