4 & 8yr service medals

4 is bad, for one thing the background is smooth, it does not have that fingerprint type texture. 8 year looks good though.

Your (original thread author) 4-Year SS Long Service Medal has a rounded ring at the top of the medal. It should have a beveled edge just like the 8-year medal. Also of concern is what appears to be a break in the ribbon ring on the side. The break should be in the closed end where it was soldered, not out to one of the sides. I would pass on the 4-Year. Check out my cased 4-Year SS Long Service Medal on the Collections Display Forum... not the closest picture in the world but you can see some of what I'm talking about...
