        Hi Munster,
I'm not sure but in post #2 it looks as if it is written in ballpoint pen and dated 1936?
        Is this correct?

        Cheers,
        Brett

Also, Gemeinschaft is misspelled on the 1936 dated entry. Looks bad to me.

Yes,,looks like standard Older German schrift to me. I know it is a spelling error, but things happen. Why I like this is it was aquired for next to nothing, 32 miles north of Wewelsburg, in Detmold. Iam not any means famliar with Wewelsburg stamps, but Iam really curious on this.

It doesnt appear to be ballpoint,,it is fountain/ink pen

I associate myself with the above from a colleague in the know. I note further that this kind of stamp and embellishment do NOT accord with the kind of ownership, library stamps I have seen in III. Reich books. Nor does the handwriting of the SS officer look of the period, either---the dubious form of pen being a warning as noted above. Quality of penmanship was a pretty important criterion of education, social station, &c., and it is often so reflected in even mundane places.

maybe its the photos , but that really looks like a ball point pen was used..
There is no unevenness, darkning on the crossover points, or start points to see at all! . , G.

I tried to make a better scan of the writing. It really comes off as ballpoint on the scans but in hand the ink is in the paper, unlike a ballpoint that sits on the paper. It is soaked in and the darkpoints on the crossover letters , actually are absorbed ink from where the writer applied pressure.

Iam not trying to defend this as it may seem, the book is not actually mine. I know a lot of items get a wewelsburg stamp from fakers. But the location of where this item was bought makes me think twice.

I have looked at this post several times and I must admit at at first glance the ink does look like "Biro". But if Dion has this in hand he is the best person to judge. But in this better scan it would appear to be ink to me.

I agree with Donald about an Officer having better education and handwriting but spelling mistakes are not unknown in period documents.

I don't know about the ink stamps. I have not seen the property one before.

How about we check that this SS Officer is listed in the Dieinstalterliste? Ok, this might only mean that any potential forger did his homework, but it might be worth a look?

                            Cheers, Ade.

Ade,,Ive been trying to do that, but cannot find a free copy online

Another idea I have is that the HJ building is 2 minutes down the road from the SS library ( I would Imagine it was in the castle, Please correct if Iam wrong) The stamps would make sense as it was in the library and some Haupturmführer decided to dedicate and give it to the HJ down the street. Just a theory
