As Donald has mentioned in an above post the Red wool base cloth is not correct IMO also , I have never encountered an original one with this type of cloth has anyone else?

unfortunatly I have to agree with the Guys here. the black stripes and the swasticka should be ribbed like mine. check these out. as far as the tag. I cant say, mine does not have one, most say it must have been a paper tag and the glue fell apart over the years or was never even with one. mine is unissued as the ends were never sewn together. sorry, Glenn

This image is spot on as a means of comparison to the 1st textile above. The wear to the Grundtuch in the authentic piece is very typical of what one sees; the black band, as well as the material of the HK are also quite the norm. The Bevo tags were used, give or take 'til '37 and then superseded by the paper tags. The unswen textile here is also quite typical, granted the requirement to adjust to sleeves or great variety, including that of overcoats. Truth be told, I have owned more than one of these red objects in my time. They are most interesting when still attached to a larger black textile.

The shock of reality forms the basis for further insight, knowledge, and learning. Since 1966 or so, I have had more than my share of such shocks, which drove me on to prevent their recurrence. Such a struggle to know was much more difficult in the middle of the 20th century. The novice of today has much more powerful aids at his fingertips. Ergo, sapere aude.
