    coat

    Hi guys

I picked this piece up from a secondhand clothes store and believe it is a post war german coat. Good condition. The buttons are overhoff and also Assman 25mm.
My main question is am i right in it being a postwar german coat.
I was thinking of placing a totenkopfverbande cuff title and sleeve eagle on it as i will never be able to afford the real thing, would this look silly although the collars are differnat to SS coat. some please explain ho i add photos im going nuts

    cheers (from sydney Australia)

From the looks of it I would deduce it was post-war German; however, still pretty close in style but the material is different. As for attaching insignia on it and wearing it around, why not? Do what you want to do with it. Just don't try to pass it off as original on eBay.

                        coat

                        Thanks Bob,

My initial thoughts were that it was a post war coat however after seeing the button stampings and the style i thought i would get a second opinion. Is it correct that buttons on actual german coats of war period were all silver not bronze like mine.

That's correct, with some exceptions. The pattern of the III Reich overcoats was different as well--this one is definitely postwar.
