Here's some photos. I really liked the look of this one but it's sold already so obviously someone else liked it more!

Personally, I think its been put together. There's one pic showing some damage to the lower edge, and you can see that the band is reinforced with cardboard, which is not correct for a crusher. I've only examined a few, but their bands were backed by buckram or burlap so that the cap could be "crushed". Also, the stitching attaching the visor has been done by hand, but through machine made holes- makes me feel its originally from another cap. Lastly, the cap (band and lining) are enlisted quality, and those I've seen (with leather visors at least) had velvet bands and better quality linings with real leather sweatbands...just my 2 cents...

                Cheers,
                Arran.

This should be called a "crush type".These are not made like Heer "crushers".It was not intended to be wedged up.This one looks like something heavy was placed on top of it at some point in time.

I actually had this particular cap in my own collection for over thirty years and I'm really surprised that you think its a put together.Firstly I know for a fact there is no cardboard used on the interior of this cap (perhaps the interior images are misleading). Secondly you mention all the SS Officers crushers that you have seen or handled had velvet bands, which would suggest to me that they were all private purchase. The regulation on issue field service caps with the cloth and leather peaks was a black woolen band, and judging by the interior of this cap I would put it in the "issued" catagory.

                      Kind Regards Hiag

I don't like either of the insignia. The eagle is 100% bad in my opinion (see the even wingtip feathers on each side).

How do you see these things without hands on inspection? As far as the cap goes how can you see restitching?
How many companies mad these and what materials were used?I see a chaffed sweatband but no cardboard...am I blind?

This eagle's one I've not seen before, the close-up shot on the site shows remarkable facial details. It'll be certainly be interesting to hear what Chris Mc. says.

Eagle is one of the very rare marked M1/24 Overhoff eagles. Matches perfectly the M1/24 Overhoff Skull on the cap !!
