I believe it is a fake. Alcoso did not make SS items.

            Best, Chris

Ummm yeah they did, not an expert but sword looks o.k from here includeing the knot, im just not sure about the logo and the placement of the rune button, which appears to have been tinkered with.

But let the big boys have it.

I looked at this degen as it is listed on Manions. Although I have never seen an Alcoso SS officers degen, and don't remember TW ever listing one, he does list this firm as a maker of the officers sword. Normally what is seen in collections and on the market are : Krebs marked with both of their trademarks, un-marked blades, and Dachau both un-marked and PMD. All of these that I've listed are very predictable when it comes to characteristics, but never seeing an Alcoso, this one is tough to compare. It is a mid period degen with the plated fittings that are evident. The runes on the Krebs and un-marked swords always rides just underneath of the grip wire, which Alcoso may not have. I'm not fond of the portapee at all on this degen from what I can see from the photos. This is a tough call without seeing how the entire sword looks assembled and in your hands. JR

From the image it seems poor chiseling with lack of detail on the lower furrel and the drag seems to be of the doubled screw "police" type. The makers mark seems to be a bit rough too, although it could be the camera!
And the chip out of the handle near the runes! I would pass on this,,,,,,,,
                    Nice knot though.
