    Detecting fake officer sleeve eagles

This is where you look to see if an eagle is a Sieder reproduction, these two basic embroidered styles. On a couple you can see where extra highlights either with thread or wire are added . some done in different types of bullion. Both types often offered at shows loose by Mr. Floch. They don't glow under UV and they have an unterlagen, usually a white cardboard that when cracked or torn may reveal a UV glow.

This is a mass produced 80's fake that appeared around the same time as the pink smocks. It was often seen gracing the pages of AAGI militaria auction.

Some people recognize them immediately but it never fails 5-10 times a year someone posts one “ Is this officers Eagle real “ and it is a Sieder. So what one person can easily see others cannot, and especially novice collectors or someone just entering SS cloth.

By the way the last Traders eagle is a copy but it was made using a zerox photo of classic original, there are no differences other than lack of an unterlagen.

Question John, from your observation did Sieder attempt the 1st and 2nd type eagles?

All of the Eagles in the first post are Sieder Vien eagles. If you buy them loose the paper backing sometimes is marked with a white circle looking symbol or wrapped in a brown label with Sieder Vien stamped on it. Since Vienna was within the Reich they would’ve used an RZM tag, I have never seen one with an RZM tag.
