SS Licence Plate question

hello, i was looking at buying a SS Plate from a well known dealer and want to know if they were painted or enameled?

if any other collectors have one or? please post so i can see what yours look like.

They were hand-painted. Here's one I've had for over 20 years.

I think it from a LAH motorcycle because of the low number. This photo's an old one, but you can see the whole thing here. Painted on steel. No stamps.
