    I wish to thank all the members who have given their insights and opinions on this visor.

    I don't think it is necessary to perform a pogrom of the pros/cons of Wolfe-Hardin. I mearly mentioned them because everyones first question about a piece is "Where did it come from . . . " - I was answering it for everyone - up front.

    My opening this thread was about this visor and I would appreciate everyone keeping it about the visor. If you do/don't like the visor please say so. I, or I am sure Steve Wolfe/Neil Hardin, won't take offense with your OPINION.

    If you would like to start a thread on the merits or shortfalls of them, or any other dealer, I am sure there is a appropriate area to do so.

        I have handled a few peaked caps and looked at many more and I see nothing wrong with yours. The interior materials remind me of several other field gray caps I have seen for sale in Europe and in particular one very nice issue black peaked cap which sold recently. It even also had the eagle prongs visible from the interior. Although I have not seen many in such good condition.
        Unfortunately I think the mention of Wolfe/Hardin has scared most of the usual experts from voicing any opinion at all. The only thing that scares me is the thought of the price with that association compared to prices asked in Europe!

            After struggling to get past the fact that this cap is in such unbelievably good condition, I also can't see anything about it that would cause concern although I'm no expert by any means.

            One thing does puzzle me though and this is for Rich.<O</O

            Why write "I thought I would post some photos while I make up my mind what to do with the red version" I didn't get the impression that you are unsure about the authenticity of the cap and therefore asking for opinions.<O</O

            Is it more a case of deciding to sell or not and drumming up a bit of interest from potential buyers in the process? Nothing wrong with that I hasten to add, just wondering what the purpose of the thread is.<O</O

              It is not a matter of drumming up interest. I'm sure many people would like to own this cap.

              If I decide to sell (Since Panzer is my real interest) I thought it made more sense to post the piece for scrutiny first before listing on the e-stand. That way any interested parties can ask their questions on the open forum rather then be inhibited by the rules of the e-stand. My comfort level with the cap does not necessarily transfer to any interested buyers.

              Realistically if everyone "crapped" all over this cap no one would want to own it. The fact that the majority opinion, up to now, is good will give a comfort level to any interested parties.

                  Well all these SS caps are rare in my opinion. We cannot discount a cap just because it is ultra-rare and in exceptional condition. I certainly see nothing wrong with this cap. It seems to me that those who say that the branch-piped visors were never available through depot or kleiderklasse system are simply guessing about this. Does anyone have any documentation to support this idea?The cap looks correct in the photos and more than warrants a good hands-on exam. I really don't need to know where the cap came from to say I like it or not.

                    Id like to see if it would seel at the price of a cased Juncker just out of curiosity.
                    My reason for posting is simply that a piece should stand on its own merits and not need the dealership ads to make it more saleable.But you are right anything with the names attached sells a bit easier.
                    The comments from several here suggest it stands up for itself now I hope you can sell it for what you feel its value is. A color piped cap is quite nice to look at as are color piped tunics which are also quite rare re the Waffen SS.

                    Nutmeg....that is quite a vet find.That would be a holy grail to an SS collector.What a nice looking cap.

                      It's still a bit hard to see, but I believe the eagle is an original 475 marked aluminum eagle.

                        "SS" (runes) "475/39"

                        On the other side "RZM" in a circle

                            I find this thread very interesting and have been following it closely. My opinion definitely will not hold any weight here since there has been some very experienced and knowledgeable members who have already weighed in. With that being said, if this indeed is a fake or a put together visor, god help us all it is perfect. The first thing noticeable on most fakes is the quality of the piping. This piping is spot on. As for construction, also spot on. There are not even the slightest signs of being put together. IMO if it weren’t for the rarity of the cap there would be absolutely no question of its authenticity. I will leave the rest to the true experts but I would be thrilled to death if this were in my collection.

I Am Not Piling On But Frankly, From The Images, I Think You Have A Nice Original Hat That Has Seen Little Wear. There Is No Substitute For A Hands On Inspection. With That Caveat, I Like Your Hat Very Much. Congratulations.
