Wss Pz M43 On The E-stand

Hi all.I need opinions about the M43 Pz Cap on the E-Stand.I like the cap and the skull IMO is a nice original. What make me wonder is the absence of the eagle.Rich told me that there is no evidence of a stitching. Is it possible that the skull was added post-war to turn the cap into a WSS PZ CAP?Any opinion is welcome.Thank you

Well this cap came out of my collection last year, It has a faded but correct Carl Halfar stamp. This is a very nicely worn Carl Halfar made SS m-43. The cap also has a Soviet capture stamp, and you would not find any question of this one when examining it. A great example.

Thank you guys. Jerry, have you found traces of an eagle on it?I never seen a PZ M43 WSS without eagle in period photos,it's uncommon, isn't it?

The example for sale has never had an eagle on it, and I am more than certain of this. Well if you look around a little you will see many period photographs of these caps with no eagle in various references.

I believe this was pretty common. Many in LSSAH armor regiment wore the army panzer sidecap with SS insignia. I have owned examples of m-43 panzer with no eagle, eagle on the front and on the side. There was much variance there I believe. Unfortunately I cannot post photgraphs on this forum at this time.

I believe the Agte piece on Jochem Peiper has several photos of the LSSAH with m-43 headgera with only totoenkopf.

There are photo's out there showing this practice like the example above, in fact you only have to look at period photo's to realise that in fact sometimes regulations meant nothing!
              cheers

One of my favorite photos showing a similar non-regulation wearing of a metal TK:
