Florian sounds like he was a great man. I hope he was looked up to by his grandchildren, because if not, it would be a terrible shame.
    Amazing photos! Thanks for sharing!

As Im sure you know most waffen SS men are still to this day slandered as "war criminals" & such & proof is my imprisonment for standing up for the rights & honor of WSS vets (My grandfather was a WSS vet) Its a damn shame but somehow from another shore we have to carry the flame for them.

Nice story! Good to see there are still people out there willing to talk of their time in the SS.

I am very aware of what they still go through, and it is not right. Also that you got thrown in prison for defending them is a crying shame. It is too bad the German youth these days are so brainwashed as to think their own grandparents are/were evil. German veterans are some of the kindest people I have met, and most certainly not evil.
To change the subject, where did your Opa fight?
          Later!

I know Id posted a few of these panzer shots before but hey they are amoung my faves.Id also like to say none of these are in any kind of "pecking order" I like them all the same not one over the other. Ive also gotten alot of questions about my "avatar" so I can kind of kill 2 birds w/ one stone! This is a long winded story but worth it.In 1993 I was arrested & jailed in Germany for "actions & speech" against the "constitution" of "Free & democratic Deutschland" and was forced to obtain a German lawyer as my defense. After spending 2 mos in a German prison facing a 4 yr sentence I was tiold by my lawyer I would eventyally beat the case against me but it could take up to a year to have my case heard.I was told if I plead guilty Id be released in 2 days with a small fine & 18 mos probation. After my release I was told by my lawyer she had someone who was very intrested in meeting me.I went to her home the night before my flight left back to the US to find my seeker was none other than her father, the man pictured here in these next 3 pictures. Because she is a rather prominent lawyer in Germany I will only use her fathers' 1st name which is Florian. After a long night of cherry liqour cigars & ALOT of good war stories going over his photos he aplogized for my treatment by "the new Germany" shook my hand and bid me a safe trip back. When I went to help him gather his photo album & photos he told me to take them back to America with me as I could enjoy them way more than his daughter & grandchildren.Florian passed away in 1999 & I went back to Germany to pay my final respects. So in a way these may be my faves.......
You have the nicest avatar that I have ever seen! Thank you for the PM to this thread.

Good to know! I will look for those pics tomorrow, as I also need sleep. It has been a long independence day, and I am dead tired.
Thanks for letting me know, and keep up the good work!

These are really breath-taking photos, my respects! I actually discovered something new here, that your LAH-officer in the stunning photo was KIA! I know his story too. Always figured he made it back home safely.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your second installment, maybe you can make a thread of some photos in one of your albums when you have some time? That would make an interesting thread.

                      Waffen SS Photos

What a welcome relief from the same recycled photos you see in all the books. The helmeted TK trooper shots were particularly nice, as well as the tropical RFSS portraits. Top drawer!!!

                          @RD Rygaard,

very nice pics. I'm new in this forum, so I've no idea how I can post pictures, but I've definitly a portrait of the same man like your #4, but without helmet!

                          sorry for my bad English,

                          Andreas

Your 2nd RFSS shot is the best ever (is it your Grandfather, isn't it?).
Do you know where the pics on that album have been taken?
                            Just Corsica?

                            Thanks
