    SS Jacket

    Hello!

Could anyone help me with the left jacket on the close-up photo?

If you look on Peter Jenkin's website, SSBWUK or whatever, he has similar illustrations of SS Verfuegungstruppe of the era 1934/5/6 in the earth grey or field grey uniforms. There is mention of a kind of garment in the price lists, especially that of 1934 that may be germane to this item. The field grey caps with the 1929 Hoheitszeichen are also interesting. The officers are plainly wearing army over coats, I am sure. This is a wonderful image of what seems to be the LAH or the SSVT of the first hour. Derek Chapman and Darryl Pajot can also speak to this material, as well. Mollo has a similar illustration in vol. III of his Gesmatwerk. Many thanks.

      Stefan,

I can't answer your SS tunic question with any authority but I did offer you my opinion regarding your helmet question.

        Thanks for your help guys!

I just found this by accident at my local militaria store in Stockholm. So if it's an early picture I am very pleased

        Cheers, Stefan

Congratulations. I hope that colleague Chapman will report in, too. Peter Jenkins had images of an identical almost Soviet style fatigue jacket which one can see with the black peaked cap of early style. The price lists make mention of various earth grey Drillich garments as Feldblusen &c. Someone should publish a volume of SSPB, SSVT and SSTV images of the early era, say 'til about 1938. There are so many images from photograph albums that it is quite staggering, really. Once more, congratulations on an important find. The grey peaked caps are also striking. I wish I could find one of these. I have seen an RZM/SS'ed August Mueller cap in field grey of the era 1937 or so, but this image is likely from 1935/6. Maybe my colleagues will make a more insightful observation. Viel Sammlerglueck. PS In the english translation of the 1938 price list there is mention of a " Artikel 14. fatigue jacket, denim, gray cost RM 7.50)" (in contrast to a Feldbluse and of of course, to a Dienstrock). I had always thought the former was identical to the Drillichanzug of the Heer introduced in 1933, but who knows?
