Waffen SS mantel or just period leather jacket?

hey I know youre used to my posts being SS photo related...its my specialty...its what I do.... Anyway I have a friend in Germany who came upon a huge QUALITY SS attic find from a LAH man killed in Hungary in March of 45. This is an item that was with the stuff Ive already taken. She makes no claims to it being SS but this was with all the items. I know nothing about these things I know the pics are terrible but I can say that everything Ive gotten from her are 100%. Now is this an SS coat or just a period leather coat.Ive been offered this as a "whatever price you want to pay" item.Am I getting the find of a lifetime or just a very nice period leather coat? ok I hope someone can help me here...thanks

          Leather Coat .....

This in my opinion is a 1950's police coat, I have one at home exactly the same as yours. With the press-stud fastening and double buckles. I have seen them in black, very dark green and the lighter usual green for that period. I paid approx $100 for mine. David

I agree with the above. I wish that I could find a nice one, size 42 US or 52 Euro. This is not in a military cut, nor is it the proper color, either. These can be found at Troedelmaerkte in Berlin and Vienna on any given weekend and in 2d hand stores. The Walter Frentz volumes from Arndt Verlag have many colored images of military style leather coats in clear images. This kind of coat was worn in a civil version in the III. Reich, but they were also very much a part of the post-war Wirtschaftswunder, with the onset of prosperity in the FRG. I am sure this piece dates from the 1950s.

I have exactly the same coat. They have PRYM studs don't they?
Are these studs made post war also?
