      According to this website: http://www.geocities.com/findinglinc...utilities.html
A.B. Bliss was a photographer active in the Lincoln, Illinois area around about the period of WW2. The name Bliss was also found associated with a Lincoln, Illinois mine that was started in 1934. Lincoln is just north of Springfield, Illinois on old Route 66.

IMO, the photo doesn't look like a POW photo. Strikes me as kind of of rare to be so completely uniformed with awards etc., while in captivity. There is a possibility that this is a photo duplicate made by Bliss Photography from a photo originally taken in Germany. Just a thought.

I grew up in Galveston...now fort crockett has a hotel built on it. Anyone have other period pics of the camp? Also please see insignia...My grandfather is missing collar tabs but still retains arm eagle. All others seem to be heer & luftwaffe DAK members w/ original & self made insignia (see caps). In last pic you'll see everyone is dressed in what seems to be US supplied clothing except young SS man w/ blk wound badge....he has self made runic collar tab!
        Hi RD,
I live about 17 miles from Galveston, and have been to the San Luis Hotel many times where it now rests (as you said) on a large gun battery. If you don't have any good pictures of the area as it appears now, land would like some to use as a "then and now" theme, let me know and I will take some digitals for you next time I am down that way. BTW...There was a Pete Rygaard who I believe was the Mayor of Texas City in the early to mid sixties...any connection?
