    SS Skull and Eagle? Comments?

What is the feeling on this insignia?

Mark, the photo is not good enough to be 100% sure but I'll stick my neck out and say it's an original machine woven trap of the 1st pattern which has the single row of teeth. As for the cap itself, that's a different story and I wouldn't be too hopeful of it being original WSS.

Have a look at this thread to compare the insignia.

I posted this before and got no response. What do you think the cap is? Is it period? Military?

I can post more pictures if anyone would like to take a guess.
Stamped inside the cap is the following:

          Karl Schirmmel
          Mutzenfabrik
          Gottingen
          1944

          Thanks for you reply.

well, how about some better pictures if you want a serious answer from folks?
The blurry pictures make it very hard to make any determination of detail.
              Are those gold buttons????
I would like to see a clear (as in focused) shots of the trap, the buttons, the flaps down and inside as well at the visor bottom.
I have never seen a WSS enlisted panzer m-43 in a italian gaberdine, i would be interested in better close-up of this ribbed material.

Does your camera have a macro mode or at least manual focus? It obviously can't focus correctly that close. You may have to set the camera at the max resolution it supports and shoot from a distance where it will focus correctly. Then blow it up.

And anyone who can afford one of these caps can buy a decent digital camera (for less than $400)!

Well, I will post more, better pictures soon. I will tinker with the settings on the camera. It is a good camera, the photographer is only doing this for the first couple of times.

I think I only paid $80.00 for it about 14 years ago. I bought it from a friend I did some business with. Some of the other items I purchased from him have already been viewed with good feedback.

Well, Gentlemen. I hope this is better. If not I apologize.

#4 No the buttons are not gold. It looks like a brown staining of some sort ...?
