Ok, against all better judgement , I am going to do this once more and open myself to further insult and abuse. Ben has got similar and more detail that he can provide should he wish. J

I am going to post example what a correct Reed attachment should look like. The arrows show the hidden stitch of the reed and the sweat band attachment stiching ( two different things). I have used three colors to indicate three things.
Red - empty holes and incorrect stitching (reed ) should be hidden or barely visible (Please zoom in closer on the empty holes in my first pic of the crusher)
Blue - where this stitch line is or should be
Yellow - Damage on the reed CORRESPONDING where the problem in the stitches are.

Other things of relevance are the attachment of the black cap band and the fabric of the cap band. It is up to everyone to make up their own minds, I am not here to convince anyone

First two pics CORRECT ATTACHMENT FOR eREL
    neXt three CAP IN QUESTION.

I have been waiting for these comments for a long time
Finally, something accurate to which I will be able to respond in a precise manner.
What you show, I know, and I saw it too.
I will answer you very precisely using photos.
I will use the same colors as you
Give me a little time to do this work.
You should not forget that the bulk of the work to assemble these caps is done by machines behind which are ……. humans.

And not forget that Erel as one of the Top Producer of Hats had a very very good production control, and something like this messed up, would never leave there Shop. Human error...always possible, but that here is far beyond one. This is called put together post 1945 by someone who try hard, just not hard enough.

Here we are finally back in a nice discussion.
                    It's not too soon.
Regarding your remarks in red, they are actually holes where the wires were torn off. For a cap that has been worn well on the ground, this is not abnormal. If it had been rebuilt recently, all of the holes would be well filled.
I enclose to begin with, some photos of 2 pre-war Lutwaffe Officer caps. The quality is impeccable but you will be able to notice that there are imperfections in the seams.
Do not come and tell me that these are redone caps.
You will easily understand that thereafter, the quality deteriorated.
Take a look at this post:

Stitching on car seat is original and top notch.👍
