Ss collar tab opinions

I'm helping a friend of mine go through a few of his items and this collar tab insignia was in with the other stuff. What are y'alls opinions on this? Any chance of being real? Looks alright to me but I'm no expert when it comes to SS items. All opinions are welcome.
