He is an early member of the Leibstandarte.
These small SS runes tabs were very significant for early LSSAH.

Whilst the Leibstandarte did indeed wear these runes as krikke1980 pointed out, so did most of the early Politische Bereitschaften thus without the cufftitle showing it's impossible to be certain.

              Thanks Derek.
Which Pol. Bereitschaft wore these tabs without number?

Imo those Pol. Bereitschaften runes are even smaller.

Here's another guy with same early runes.
Helmets worn with tricolor decals were mostly done so by LSSAH?

These two guys must have been from the same unit as these pictures were taken at the same moment. Look at the backgrounds.

                Dated 1934

                  Hello Krikke,
Sachsen, Wurttemberg both wore runes. I have attached close-ups of the two patterns posted so far together with examples from both the PB units I mentioned. I also have a picture somewhere of almost diagonal pattern runes being worn by a Stabswache unit.

Wonderfull and interesting. Thanks for sharing sir.

I remember indeed that I saw a picture of a young Max Simon with 'Sachsen' cufftitle but I also remember that he had a numbered SS tab.

Although the runes on the Sachsen and Wurttemberg uniforms are imo not the small type runes as we can see on the first two.

May we see the whole pictures of the ones you've added please?

                    Thanks.

Also notice the cap with grommet vents.

Wurttenberg and Sachsen eventually started to wear TK tabs, correct?
They wore those runes for very short time.
Still I'm not convinced that these runes are the same 'small type' as the OP.
It is just my opinion however that those small runes were attributed to LSSAH in the 1934 period. Although all were possible I guess?

No, not entirely true. Whilst members of Schasen eventually became part of the Wachverbande and wore the totenkopf patch the PB Wurttemberg was integrated into into the 1st SS Regiment as its third battalion and so ended up wearing the 'SS1' patch. I should add that for a very short period of time Wurttemberg also wore the 'SS2' collar patch prior to the 'SS1' version.
