Sicherheitsdienst / SD Jacket for review

    Hello
Please I would be pleased to get opinions on this SD Jacket which seems to be an original M43 Waffen-SS Jacket modified in changing the collar with an open collar and adding some vertical bars on the pockets probably to give an more early look to the Jacket. The question could of course be if this was done in war time.
    All the best

This is a very intriguing tunic. I like many features and think this is likely a good wartime conversion. The broad button-less lapel and chest padding are very convincing, and so is the loss of support hooks and first aid pouch to streamline the look. Insignia looks fine.

Of course, those are some of the same features eliminated when combat tunics were converted for post-war civilian use, and the reworked pockets and other features could also be the result of post-war restoration. But in this case, based on the pictures, I'd say it is an excellent candidate for a wartime SS to SD conversion.

I'm normally not a feldbluse guy, so can't say much to authenticity, but it's a really unique and extensive conversion; I like the materials, and the base bluse seems good, so I'd definitely give it a chance

The jacket itself is an original SS BW m43 Tunic from italian wool.
I believe it was a period conversed to an SD tunic.

As often to see, there were panels added to the pockets to look more like early m37 tunic.

Often seen bz young SS members, who wanna look like they wear the classic m36 m37 tunics.

Amazing war time reworked SS-BW stamped M43 combat tunic, to SD service so suitable with shirt and tie as often the norm in the SD mimicking an open collar M37 tunic
but with regular skirt pockets of the combat blouse design.
So besides the V neck conversion, padded shoulders, also pocket pleats added, but still retaining straight pocket flaps.

I have no problem believing this was a war time conversion. The only issue is it's value as a rework and if the insignia was reapplied or not. I like it and it displays well!

Wonderful and striking tunic! I have personally no doubt the alterations are period done; typical for the style tunic as favoured to be worn by SD in the field.
