SS Equestrian Table Medal - Opinions

    Hi all,
I tried to research this but couldn't find one anywhere. It seems to be solid silver and the details are quite good in hand. 3.4 cm in diameter and 2 mm thick.

Appreciate any opinions or knowledge of these.

    Thanks in advance, Justin

Looks very interesting and promising and imo for sure period.
    Hopefully others can comment more.
    Thanks for sharing.

Looks like this kind of work, imo.

        Why Chris?

It has nothing to do with each other...

I am seeing what appears to be tooling marks throughout the details and the way that the details appear, they look to me to have been carved into the silver. Imo, it does not look like the details were struck into the surface from a die and I believe that this item may have been something else originally. Also notice the dark shadowing around all of the details. You will see this on the coin I posted, where details have been altered.
          Just my thoughts,

          Chris

Right, a typical answer, based on nothing.
Out of the blue, condamming it as fake and fantasy...
              How can you know?
You might wait for answers from others.
There might be people who do know. Or not and are you right, being it fantasy.

I will explain why IMHO this is not an original item.

                1. Look at the way the edge is milled. That is similar to US coins, not German medals.

                2. German medals/table medals on the edge tend to be flat smooth or have parallel lines.

                3. The reverse design is a correct design that has then been applied.

                4. SS Collector is showing a piece made in a similar manner but with a different design.

                5. I have seen similar items US/German offered for sale for what they are fantasy pieces or copies. They have the same overall look.

                6. They are made in China.

                John

+1 - the rendering of rider and horse is modern and not consistent with period ideals. A fantasy piece for sure!

Thanks all! I appreciate the feedback.

The milled edge was my biggest concern. I noticed since posting also that the reverse design is not centered directly at the top when flipped, it is about 20 degrees to the left. This would not be the case on an original German medal.

                      Off to the repro box!
