The only other writings besides O. M. are the numbers 220 imprinted in several places, I think it's a serial number...

I add an information that may be useful: I found this periscope in an old attic in a northern Italian city, along with this I found a M42 german helmet.

Thank you very much! What age do you think it is? WW1 or WW2?
So it may have arrived here in northern Italy brought by the Germans during the war. On the other hand they used everything they could, even foreign material..

What do you understand it from? From colors? Thanks

Please, move that part (red arrow) and se if there is anything written under.

I tried to move it but I can't. Do you probably need to unscrew all the screws? I've never had to deal with periscope...

Then just fold the poor ones apart
and when you fold it back hold the thing on the photo with the arrow - so it is straight down.
Then you see if there is something written on the other side!

Chevyjonny is right. But also try if you can release the lever.
The lever is fastening the position of the 2 main parts.
If it is stuck, then add some penetrating oil or some drops of petroleum/kerosene to the center axis.
. Let it rest for half and hour, then try again. If it is dried out grease, then it needs time to soften it up.

Could it be an Austrian piece? The color makes me think of the KUK Army material of the WW1...Nobody dares to make hypotheses?
