1934 Krieger & Kaudt leather belt case help needed

This looks like some sort of German Compass case but I am not sure. It has been bult to secure something delicate such as an optic, but I am not sure what? It fits on a belt. Can anyone help? The maker is Krieger & Kaudt 1934 which is stamped on the side
