Guys as I promised here are the pics of this awesome but unknown optics set.
Made by CME = Gegr Witchmann, Berlin.
It’s complete in its issue box.
The base has the standard size spigot to sit on a Gestell 31/40.
The wedge blocks have what looks like the same type mounting configuration as the 10X80 flak optics & the MGz 40 sights...not having either units in my collection I can’t compare. [emoji848]
The base has two adjustment planes with spirit levels. You manually adjust them with the wee adjusting pins. The two planes seem to me firmly spring mounted so the two sections are always under a bit of tension.
The accessories once installed are held fast with an adjustable wedge.
The two accessories are an “elbow” & “spigot”. The Elbow lets you set the optics bloc on but there is no firm way to affix it. It just sits on the mount. It’s all very well machined.
Interesting detail on the optics bloc...the image when looking through is upside down [emoji854][emoji848] there is a simple “X” reticle & no other details in the lens (numbers/grids).
To be honest I’ve no idea what this little unit was used for. The only markings are the CME & serial number. No WAa stamps on any of the parts that I can see.
The box is tatty & needed some attention.
The contents list translates to:
1. Square Telescope
1. Elbow
1. Connecting Piece
2. Adjusting Pins
1. Spigot
Only marking on the box is a wee CME stamp on one side.
So if anyone can shed light on just what this device is for I’d be most appreciative.
Pics below for your enjoyment.
