    10x50 OPTICS

    Leitz 10x50 wide angle, is the grid scale in the right eye piece as its out of
    line, the prism is fixed in place, so I can not
    see how you adjust the collimation, any help please.

    adjust the collimation

    It's by the eccentric rings around the objectives - the prisms aren't meant to be moved.

      Are parts changeable from the 6x30, prism, complete eye cups, any thing else.

          10x50

          So would need the same type or may be the 7x50 for spares.

            Any Leitz or beh 10x50 or 7x50 Dienstglas from the WW2 period will provide spares - except for the bigger wider angle eyepieces which can only be replaced with those from another wider angle 10x50.

              would you say 39/40 by the serial number 257xxx

                You called it Leitz 10x50 wide angle but your serial seems too low as the "wide angle" ones were only made late WW2.

                Might it not be that you simply have a Leitz 10x50 Dienstglas which were available in brass plated and alloy plated versions but both shared the same optics?

                Here is a "normal one" ;

                And here's a "wide angle";

                  10x50

                  Yes thanks for the link, the first is exactly the same except mine is more alloy
                  construction, I suppose this is quite a scarce model to find, what is the actual
                  difference with the 7 x 50.

                    The rare ones are the second type shown (which you don't have) and the only difference between 10x and 7x is in the eyepiece optics.

                    If your normal 10x50 needs spares (other than the eyepiece optics) then a 7x50 will do. A cheaper option may be to buy an immediate post war Leitz 10 or 7x50 - they tend to sell for less.

                    My problem, when buying binoculars for spares, is that I then want to sort the new donor binocular - and then need spares for that....

                      10x50

                      The eye pieces are ok its the sockets they screw into which fit to the front plates,
                      would these have to be from a 10 x 50 as I guess there bigger lenses, the right
                      socket has the lens with the scale, could you get away with only adjusting the
                      right objective for collimation, as I have not touched the left side.
