The ones I've seen and owned were stamped into the outside leather surface...

Also looking at the way the leather is cut does not look good, any more
          opinions thanks.

No expert at all... but no one mentioned the brass buttons.

I can see the toolmarks are fairly crude to the mushroom outer ends.
Most buttons I have seen are almost complete smooth.
Besides, these seems to be less flat than usual.

Does anyone know if that is significant ?

Well I purchased this one from the E-Stand still waiting for delivery, will be
sending back not had a reply from the seller surprised he would sell a fake
                  one.

                    more comments, thanks.

                      Hi Guys

This was my buttoning flap that I sold to Martin. This is no reproduction and 100% original IMO. Had it for many years and came off an original set of binoculars. There are other examples out there stamped on the back as well as stamped into the leather. The buttons are also correct and are steel if I remember correctly.

I did a quick search and found another here on Mikes website -

                      http://www.virtualgrenadier.com/sale_item.php?iid=5065

if the buyer is not comfortable with it I would be more then happy to have it back and refund him no problem at all.

Probably the quality panned as the war went on. I never argue with a man with a chainsaw!
