Trench periscope dow

Hi, just bought this periscope. It was repainted and marked by Czechoslovak army after the war, but there seem to be traces of dunkelgelb color under that green paint. It has a very low serial number, what I have seen here and in other places on web, all had s/n like 3xxxx and 5xxxx. It has no reticle or scale.
I will try to clean the green paint to see, what is underneath.

very nice! does it still have the range finding reticle?

No traces of reticle. Maybe some early ones did not have it?

What a coincidence! A friend o mine who lives few km away has also this trench periscope in dunkelgelb, and it has serial number 913! It also does not have any reticle. So I guess it may be true that up to some point there was none.

And no prior history on either?

Funny those low numbers pops up within a short geographic distance.

Not much to tell. Mine comes from eastern part of Slovakia while I live in western part where the friend's one was found. But both come from Slovakia. They came close only recently by collecting.

Progress after cleaning the czechoslovak green color, most of the original paint appeared. Shame that before they have cleaned the "boxes" completly from german color, I dont know why.

One more question about these periscopes:

did they have any kind of pouch or wooden box for transportation? There has to be something, but I was unable to find it. Anyone knows?
