Kurland find - in the box! What is this Blc Optik?

I'm wondering if it's a Theodolite or some type of Scherenfernrohr.
If it's for sale I'm interested.

Hi - I am trying to get it for myself. But would like to know what it was used for!

I recon its a Scherenfernrohr of some sort. But not a common model at all.

It is a Zeiss artillery theodolite, as far as I recall, for heavy artillery.

I saw one being sold for about 20 years ago, on an english auction.
That was pre internet, so, fairly unlikely to be online now.
( don´t hang me, but I just figured out it may have been in 1986)

As I recall, the auction house had very little info on it. Even in this condition: rare!

Leitz made another instrument, more or less for the same role,

Wehrmacht Richtkreis-Kollimator 12.
I know this isn´t really info, but I hope it may point to where to look.

This is a licht theodolite, used to observe the point of impact of artillery shells in order to correct firing data. Nice find.

Just an update.
I found the one I remembered being sold.
It was sold at Christie´s, in october 1985. £ 900.- Looks very good in the photo.
Unfortunately, Christie´s does not show older auctions before 1998.
