    Hensoldt-Wetzlar 10 x 50 tan w/case

I picked these up at a local antique mall in Santa Clarita for $100. Listed as "German binoculars, $100". The binocular strap is in very nice condition, the left case strap retainer is torn and the hinge/belt loop is heavily worn on the top but is still intact. It carries S/N 22217.

The case latch is marked with a three-digit code first letter is obscured "? r n 44". No other markings inside of the case or waffenamt.

The filter lens were missing and I found a non-matching pair out of Russia for $20.

You have done well that is a lovely matched set in great condition.

There are two schools of thought concerning these 5 digit binos. One is that they are late war. The other is that they are post war.

I attach a snapshot of my records of binos closely serialed to your set. You will notice that all the cases are undated and the tan paint was replaced with black paint later in the 5 digit series.
