Maybe a missunderstanding but what is the correct name for this one ?

Is it a small rza or a do it have different names ?

I apologize should I sound too pedantic, but TUZA, RZA, BNZA and similar all are "Zielapparate". The prefixes "TU", "R", "BN" and such only specify for which fire control system they were developed - and as such define which binocular was approriate for them to carry. Germans weren't very consequent in their name giving though; a TUZA 2a carried an UDF, but a BNZA carried a BNZA(1/2/3..)-binocular for instance. So, the correct term of the device you just showed would be "the Zielapparat of a TUZA2a".

But anyway its alittle bit strange .

The TUZA 2a was made to be used on uboats but was never used on uboats because its too big.... .. Or ???? Is there new info about this ?


And back to the first one .

Askania 8x60 . Do anyone have some info about this one .

My thoughts is that there exist more out there . Hopefully someone will find more info about binoculars and mounts thats never been seen in a book today .

A lot of collectors do have a lot of binoculars and almost no mounts . Me who is using the optics do almost have more mountings than binoculars .

Blc 8x60 fat : small clamp
8x60 deckmounted : small swanneck but this was original made for the other ones . Still looking for the big "swan " but I am afraid all is in the water down at a wreck

Asembi : 2x tripod
Oem 2 : tripod
EM 34 : tripod
Blc 18x 80-20 : 1x cradle on tripod + 2x mountings on stand
Df 7x50 : no mounts
No Sf 14 but 1 X Peilapparat mit zahlwerk for the SF14

Thats all of my collection of old ones .
2 rangefinders and 5 binoculars .

I can more or less follow this.

But it would clarify things, if we knew, if the binoculars used for each device had independent names, or were part of a complete set.
The UDF is a Binocular. and all the ZA´s were sighting equipments or apparate.
But here I see both the BNZApparat, and the binocular for it, being called a BNZA?

Or maybe we could just call the binoculars for BNZA binoculars and RZA(5) Binoculars. That would possibly classify them according to their original intended use.
Later exchanges or switches would, IMO be easier to describe this way.
( I know we probably won´t get a wide common ground here. If for no other reason, then because the bino´s are too rare to have wider interest )

I have an inkling, I may get to see something related to this subject some time soon. If I do, I will try and get photo´s.

Rare binonoculars and available info .
Its not easy .
I did 4 years ago asked about my Leftmodel Deckmounted . The answer was : leftmodel DONT EXIST .
I did have a problem because I then just did buy one some days earlier . Now - 4 years later do I know very little more . Answer from the zeiss Museum is that they cant find any more left one thats have been made .
Rare binokulars ? Yes but it shows what the Optic firms was available to make . Even its rare - the quality normally is on top of the line .And one of the reason why I prefer to use the great old optics and not let them be stored in a dark room .
