    BLC 7x50 u-boat Binos

    Hi,
These are one of a couple of navel related items that ive picked up recently from local sources,
The Binos came from a local lady that saw the article in the paper regarding the documented captured pair ,she says that this pair were also taken from a captured U-boat on the south coast, story aside there are in nice used condition never repainted hope someone enjoys them like me.
    Thanks Mark

you might do a seach yourself, like for a german binocular blc marked, green...

But here goes: part of an order for 6000 binoculars, 52600 to 58600.

We know the serials, but the dating is not accurate. Most likely, these were made in 1944. Made for use on submarines, but they saw service elsewhere as well.

I have one that was taken on a german minesweeper of unknown type.

In the 1956 movie "the Black Tent" an Afrika Korps officer is seen with a pair in some desert ruins - probably the farthest you could get from a wild Atlantic gale!

look at the SS officer charging across Arnhem Bridge with a CF41 barr and Stroud around his neck !
"I'm alright jack" John le Meaurier spying on the workers with a U Boatglas.
Must keep en eye for "The Black tent", sounds good.
Although a little heavy the 7x50 is comfortable to use and it balances well on the finger tips, I can't say it preforms better than the smooth 7x50 but it is a great piece of history to be using.

And the CF41 Barr and Stroud around the neck of the ex u boat kapitan in "The Bedford Incident".

I knew the u boat crews favoured the British battle blouse - nice to see they appreciated the B+S too!

(And Richard Widmark had a Ross No5 around his neck - nothing to do with it being a film made in Britain!)

Michael Caine started with a set of Kershaw and when he got to the kick off line they had transformed into a Ross No.5.
Most of the british made 1950's naval moves got the optical end correct. Brown on Resolution, Cruel Sea and Battle of the River Plate.

And for variety he went for civilian Zeiss when they sank Hood.
Jack Hawkins did a quick change in the final U Boat scene in TCS , he starts with B&S and when walking down the gangway they change to REL's , Sgt B. ...we lead sad lives.

The Ubglas much better in her used state rather than repainted.
