I looked at this item with some interest before the auction ended. The ocular assembly seemed to me much more pleasing in appearance than the type normally encountered. I initially thought that the ocular assembly might be an earlier or later type. But I gave up that thought when I compared the ocular types of serial immediate above and below the eBay item.

Here is what I observed:

serial number immediate above.....430554.....ocular assembly normal construction
serial number of eBay item............430585.....ocular assembly unusual construction
serial number immediate below......430655.....ocular assembly normal construction

I also noted that the diameter of the ocular with the unusual construction seemed much smaller than the diameter of the usually encountered ocular.

I concluded that the ocular assembly was likely a replacement one.
