    Rare French WW1 Lemaire

    I've been collecting military binoculars for years and I remember, long ago, a friend (who I've now lost touch with) mentioning a WW1 era Lemaire 8x prismatic binocular with a rotating reticule.

    Over the years I've found many fine French optics but I've never been able to find the Lemaire 8x. My friend mentioned that there was only a very small number made - Lemaire is more famous for opera glasses and Galileans I believe. Does anyone know of this binocular?

    Rotating reticles (micromètre orientable) are fairly common in 1920's - '30's French military Porro I binoculars: http://www.flickr.com/photos/4633070...-9rGccW-8p3Xux .

    But I don't recall ever seeing any in Lemaire binoculars and for that matter I don't recall ever seeing a Lemaire Porro I military binocular although they did make a lot of Galilean ones.

      Many thanks for the great links - it's the same binocular but individual focus and with the reticule moved by a little lever. I have some of their heavy duty marine Galileans and the famous triple power prismatic. But the military 8x eludes me...
