but you said "i dont have a care if the paint gets damaged"
you dont want to sell them now but who knows whats going to happen you wife or kids might
if you cannot open a vintage pair of binoculars without damaging the original finish dont as it will lower the value fact
if you dont care about the value or the binoculars historic value do what you want with them

The binocular do have a value but it have not a high value if it cant be used .
I am using the binoculars and see the value in that . Like I said - I dont have any problem if the paint get some scratches . The binoculars is made to be used and I use them.

you have changed the goal posts!
first it was opening and damaging paint does not lower value as binoculars should be used now it the value is lower if they cannot be used
        hell of a difference!
look if you have a zeiss 8x60 with a bit of dirt or fungus in the optics its worth more money unopened
thats how it is with all collectables
getting back to the binocular that started the post its all but impossible ,i would actually go as far as saying impossible, to open these with without damaging the original finish
they are worth more unopened ,with a bit of dirt, then opened and cleaned wit a marred original finish

Why make it to a problem . Clean the optics and begin to use them.

we are going around in circles
if you open the udfs it will lower there value end of story
            use them as they are
if you want to use a 7x50 zeiss buy a jenoptem same optics as the udf better coating and it doesnt matter if you damage the finish
