    calibrating an EM 34

I did calibrate and tested this zeiss EM 34 vs a zeiss RF 10 x45.

at 490 , 1180 , 1250 and 1532 m it seems to be that the old EM 34 is VERY Great.

I dont have any other lasers that go far this range and therefore cant test the limit up to 10 000m at this EM 34

    Hi zeissasembi,

I suspect that in order to check longer distances you'll need to use a handheld GPS, a decent map (1:25 000 or better) or Google Maps (or a combination of GPS and map) in order to determine distances to suitable (vertical) targets such as lighthouses, pylons etc.

I've found it an interesting exercise going to a number of different locations surrounding a local beauty spot viewpoint, and saving 'waypoints' of the exact GPS co-ordinates to surrounding church-spires and other landmarks visible from the selected viewpoint; and then using the map measurement feature on my handheld GPS (a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx) to obtain the distances to the various 'targets'. I don't know whether you can perform this type of function with a vehicle GPS however, as the GPSmap that I have is intended for off-road leisure use as well as on-road.

    All the best,
    Paul
