    Hi Guys,

Any way to tell if this one is WWII period?

I can't answer your question, but this might help:
      1) Your strap and button do not quite resemble the one on my circa 1943 beh Kriegsmarine 7X50. The beh alluminun/steel/alloy button has smooth surfaces and has an anodized purple/black finish similar to some other components of bincocular. Strap width is about 9 mm.
      2) Your strap and button do resemble that on my WW I Zeiss DF 6X 6X30. Like yours the DF 6X has two button settings on strap and spun brass or bronze buttons. Its strap width is about 10 mm.
Link to an interesting photo of the DF 6X.

Per provenance I believe the straps on both these binoculars are original.

          Hello:

The studs are "blued" steel (magnet should stick to them). The strap has embossed lines on both edges, which is a good sign. I have never seen any WWII (or earlier) period straps that have more than one set of slots in the leather. The age of the leather seems to be consistent with a 70+ year old piece. The only way to be sure would be to know which set of binos it came off of (even then, it may or may not be the original strap to the set). I have noticed that on many post-war straps there will be a stamp "Made in Germany" or "Made in W. Germany" (the stamping may be faint, so look carefully). Hope this helps.

          Regards,

          Kent G.
