    DF 10x80 eug

    Gents,

thought I would share this with you:
Here is an honest barn find I acquired earlier this week.
It was rediscovered in a Bavarian attic, behind a low brick wall
just under the roof, only 3 months ago.
Everything is unmessed with and I will keep it this way.
    The view is still clear.
Quite an impressive device in solid construction.

    Regards,
    taube.

PS: Colourwise, it goes very well with a Lufty helmet

Nice find of a 70 years old bino
This bino must been in Luftwaffe service, the color says it all

LOL, I was going to say that too, but I wanted to be nice Actually the rats liked it a whole lot until they hit the tootsie roll center!! sorry couldnt resist.

It is a very good model. I dont see many eug's. "New" headpiece might be awhile before you see one for sale, but theyre out there.

Stewie, what do you use to keep the rubberpad preserved? Some sort of gel or moisturizing agent?

              Hi Micah,
I wondered about rubber preservation see attached WAC link. Seems the gasmask collector guys have the answers....

                You´re so polite, gentlemen
Be it mice or rats - it is the way it is.

                Now, another (stupid) question:
                How do I adjust these?
I looked at the moon yesterday and didn´t quite succeed.
The left lens has got a numbered scale and thr right one +/-.

My guess is, you close one eye, then sharpen?
Then the same for the other eye?
                Which one first?
I wear glasses, I should add...

                Thanks,
                taube.

                  Hi Taube,
the full moon is quite a sight at present....
You said that your binoculars give a clear picture in an earlier post so thats a good start.
lets assume that the inter ocular knob (on top right ) moves the eyepieces wider or narrower ,and the individual eye pieces can be adjusted .(This is not always the case)
You simply focus on a distant object one eyepeice at a time ,then you adjust the interocular knob to suit you.If all is well at this point you should see a single image of the "distant object" that you previously focussed on.
I find it better to remove my glasses and the rubber face pad whilst setting up.

The thing is nothing at all, but cool/temperate areas and out of the sun..hmmm.so elementary...

I also read somewhere about "plumber's jelly" (?), I think on the cloudynights page...

Use silicone lubricant which is a non-petroleum based lubricant available in the plumbing section of hardware stores. It is safe, but be careful not to get one of the other silicone lubricants containing petroleum or hydrocarbons because they will break down rubber.

                              eug 9719

I have just found this thread and was amused to see the consecutive numbers. I have a set of eug 10 x 80's, and they are numbered 9719. If anyone has a spare messkreiss or trager....... and a notvisier for 10 x 80's then please email me as I am desperate for them, either in blue/green or ordnance tan, colour is not an issure just good original condition. I would even look as buying a full boxed set if there was one for sale. Email me at damienhorn1@gmail.com
                              All the best,
                              D.
