    Carboot Sniper Scope

Picked up the following today at the local carboot, no markings, missing dial on top, no cross hair, it's similar to a WW1 German one I have. Does anybody have any ideas of maker or country of origin ?
    Thanks Gary

      Hi

Looks like a modified British WW11 No 42 or 53 Tel Sighting scope for an AFV but would be normally engraved as such with makers name initials, looks more like a No 53. Can you give length and post picture of eye lens retainer, is it a retaining ring or a Lens cell with another retaining ring within?

These scopes never had turret housings and if it is a 42 or 53 were affixed by all sorts of methods and used for other purposes other than in AFV's. It looks like the erector cell collar that was affixed to the tubes has been removed and the hole left was for the erector cell retaining segment piece which was ovoid in shape.
