    info on bino

    Hello to all.

My best friend bought him a bino whit makers code BMK, 6x30, H/6400 and the serialnumber is 71095.

We found the maker: Srb and Stys fabrik, praziser messinstrumente, Praque, Czech.

The question that my friend has is in wich year was this bino made and what kind of raingard will fit his bino.

We truy to fit a normal one on it but this is a no go, so we searcht a little on this forum and we found out that there is a different type of raingard needed for this type of bino.

We didnt find a fotograpf of such raingard so we would like if someone has one to take a pictuere and please post it here and tell us the difference between the normal one.

I cant post pics of the bino because i dont have them with me so i hope that you can help me with this one.

A last question what would be the correct type of buttonflap for a german bino
we found one with clasps insted of the normal one with the iron pieces to hold the leather together.

Many regards and thanks in advance david dp.

hi david dp, I am not aware of bmk records that enable you to determine the year of production based on serial numbers. However your binos have a KF grease mark which was an early lubrication marking which was used until about August 1942 . Just guessing here but your binocs were probably made say 1941 to early 42. The rain shield looks good and would be appropriate for all German army binoculars of this period . The button flap appears to have unusual holes and has been modified by someone

Thanks Stew for the swift reply and info.

Now i can tell my friend of witch year his bino probably was made.

As for the raingard or benutzer that good news also i have don some searching on this forum and we tougth that we needed a leather or rubber raingard on this type of bino because it is made by the BMK factory.

But i think that it is just for the bakelite bino's correct me if am wrong.

As for the button flap it was on the bino so whe are not sure if its postwar or original we dont have a clue.

Many thanks and regards david dp.

            Ps all info welcome.
